Mountain Skills

The MS training scheme is for hillwalkers. The course provides all the basic skills required to walk safely and competently in Ireland, when accompanied by people of similar ability.

The training does not include leadership skills /techniques. It is suitable for near beginners to those with considerable experience.

Topics covered include route planning, equipment, map-reading, navigation techniques, movement on steep ground and coping with emergencies.

Typically the training is divided into two blocks MS1 and MS2, each run over a two day period, but can also be run in a four day block. The Adventure Agency is an approved provider of Mountain Skills training my Mountaineering Ireland/BOS www.mountaineering.ie

We run a number of open courses which anyone can sign up for, see below for next course. We also run courses exclusively for clubs, schools, collages etc. These can be run at locations and times which are convenient to you, plus we can usually offer you generous discounts.
