Arctic Circle – Micro Adventure

Arctic 24 Hours Darkness Adventure

Imagine a day when the sun never rises, 24 hours of darkness, surrounded by snow, in a remote hut, 350km north of the Arctic Circle. Now imagine yourself there as part of an exclusive group immersed in this magical land. Arctic 24 hour darkness adventure.

Our base for this amazing micro-adventure is in Northern Scandinavia, 200km over the Arctic Circle. Our first night is spent close to the town as we enjoy some local food and our briefing for the days ahead.

The next morning we prep for our overnight trip to a remote wilderness hut. As we’ll have over a metre of snow under our feet the best way to travel is on snowshoes! The trek will take us through stunning Arctic landscapes, it’ll be tough going but the reward will be a cup of hot chocolate at our hut.

The hut is 100% off-grid. There’s no running water, no electricity and we all pitch in with gathering firewood, cooking and fetching water.

The next morning we snowshoe back out and return to our accommodation near Tromso with some evening time to enjoy the town.

Transport collects us early on day 4 to take us north on our next adventure: dog sledding and a visit to the ice hotel!

You and one other will share a dog sled as you tour the forests taking turns in control of the Alaskan Huskeys. We’ll lunch in the ice then you’ll have the opportunity to explore the various rooms and their stunning ice carvings before retiring to the ice bar! Our transport will then take us back to base for our final night before departure.

Arctic 24 Hours darkness

Is it really fully dark for 24 hours? Not 100%, the sun is just below the horizon and we still get this amazing blue twilight glow during the day.
