24 Hour survival Challenge

People love getting back to basics and survival/bushcraft courses are proving very popular to a wide audience. We’ve taken it a step further and designed a unique charity fundraiser: 24 Hour Survival Challenge.

This event is available at our base in the hearth of the Wicklow Mountains.

24 HOUR SURVIVAL CHALLENGE

We meet on day one, typically a Saturday (also available midweek) and the group get briefed on the challenge ahead: survive for the next 24 hours in the wilderness with no tents! The first part of their challenge is a series of workshops where they will learn essential skills they’ll need to get through the challenge:

  • Shelter Building
  • Navigation
  • Fire Starting
  • Wilderness First Aid/Rescue Skills
  • Leave No Trace / Environmental Issues

Once all workshops are completed the group start their trek to reach high camp, a remote and wild site in the mountains. When they reach here, their first priority will be to build shelters and start their fire.

24 HOUR SURVIVAL CHALLENGE

Ration packs are issued to all participants and they prep a tasty camp dinner before sitting around the campfire for stories. Participants bed down for the night in their shelters.

Next morning we break camp after breakfast. We leave nothing behind and return the campsite to the way we found it before descending back down to our start point and our journey home.

All specialist equipment and food is included in the above prices for our 24 Hour Survival Challenge.

What’s a good time of year for this challenge?

March through to October works very well. It’s best to avoid the height of summer as the long evenings and good weather can take away from the challenge.

>Sleeping bag
>Sleeping mat
>Rainwear
>Headtorch

>Bowl, cup etc
>Basic first aid kit

What type of audience does this appeal to?

Our 24 Survival Challenge event attracts a diverse audience with an age group from 25 to 60 and with a majority of women.

What locations are available?

Our adventure base in Glendalough is ready and available for this event but we can run it at many other locations.

Is there a charity rep place available?

Yes, there is one free place for your charity with each group.
