Who’s this for? | Anyone who wants to learn navigation essentials, but with an eye to trail runners |
Are you looking to improve your off-trail navigation skills to gain hill running independence? Want to enter an adventure race? Need to feel more confident in poor conditions? Our Navigation in a Nutshell for Trail Runners 1 day course is what you’re looking for!
Run in the greater Glendalough area of Co. Wicklow, dates are set at regular intervals throughout the year or we can run it privately for you if you have a group of 4 to 6 people.
During the day, you will be facilitated to learn about:
We provide all maps and compasses for use during the course.
This course is led by either Cindy Doyle (official Mountain Skills Provider), or Ronan Mullen, (International Mountain Leader) who both love to share their passion for the mountains with you.
Trail runners who have some experience in the mountains and want to become more adventurous and independent in their running route choices whilst knowing how to look after themselves in remote areas and poor conditions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the skills required to navigate off trail in poor conditions on the mountains.
This is a one day course. For longer courses, consider our 2 day option or Mountain Skills courses.
Whilst the navigation skills lean towards moving fast in the mountains, we won’t actually be running. There will be a lot of hanging around, so don’t worry about your pace. However, prior experience in the hills, running or walking will stand to you.
We’ll provide a full kit list in advance. You will be stationary for long periods so you’ll have to bring more kit than you would normally on your run in order to stay warm, fed and hydrated.
We work on a ratio of 1:6.
We certainly can! There is a minimum charge of 4 people.
This course is run from Glendalough, Co. Wicklow.
Highly skilled and experienced instructors. Use of maps and compasses.
